| Welcome to the Society of Genealogists Member's Area
Instructions for Members - please read this before attempting to log-in for the first time or the login fails.
Non-members may carry out an initial search on our data but to view the record details you will need to be a Member. If you are not a member and wish to view the data please click here for details of other benefits of membership and how to join. How to start Try a Quick Search to quickly find a person across all datasets or, for a better chance of getting good results, click on the search links - 'find a person' or advanced options from the menu on the left. Once you have finished with your session please ensure that you logout and if you are using it in a public area please ensure that you close the Internet browser at the same time. A list of frequently asked questions and some helpful tips are included in the webpages of the main Society site Our library's treasure trove varies and details of the initial data and some of what we hope to add in the future can the found here.Work in progress This part of our site has been developed especially for our Members. We will be adding data from our library in the form of transcripts, PDFs of books, indexes and images. Plans for the future are to digitise as much of our material as possible for you to access from the comfort of your own home. Future plans also will hopefully include education modules and pod casts, all adding to your Membership experience. If there is anything that you feel we could consider as part of future offerings in this area please let us know. Material must be SoG copyright or out of copyright (the author dying 71 or more years ago) or donated by the transcriber for this purpose. Additional material is also very welcome. If you have transcribed or indexed genealogical sources and would like to donate them to the Society for the benefit of other members, please contact the Librarian.
Annual membership of the Society costs roughly as much a dinner for two at a restaurant. Your subscription will help the charity to maintain and expand the largest family history library in the UK and digitise more of its collections. Click on the Membership tab above for more information including all the other benefits of joining. Please Note Every reasonable effort has been made to check the accuracy of the data. However, as with all transcriptions, it is possible that a few errors may have crept in. If so, we regret this but can accept no responsibility for any distraction that this may introduce. If you spot any errors then please let us know by emailing the details to the SoG Library - email. |
